Aquileia

Aquileia, is the most important and prestigious archaeological location in northern Italy and was founded by Romans as a military colony in 181 B.C.
Archbishop Theodore and the Christian community of Aqulieia built its first building in 313 A.C.
Amongst the antique walls of the basilica, there is its extraordinary mosaic pavement dating back to the IV century.
